The mattress stopper is essential to prevent the mattress from sliding back, thus preserving the mattress and the headboard, or the wall, if there is no headboard, saving you the inconvenience of having to readjust it every time.
Replacing the storage bed base
Do you need to replace the bed base of your storage bed or your bed without storage? Is your bed good but the slat base isn't up to par? Often you find yourself having to replace the bed base of a storage bed or standard bed because it only has one central beam, which is detrimental to any mattress, or because it has too few slats. Furthermore, the warranty for many mattresses clearly states that the slat base must have at least 2 beams, underneath the slats, otherwise the warranty itself is invalid.
Bed base for storage bed
A good double bed base for a drawer bed or storage bed costs approximately 120.00 euros, has 13 slats and 2 beams under the slats. Our bed bases have at least 14 slats in the 190 cm length and 15 slats in the 200 cm length, weighing about 15 kg, with a tempered steel structure of 4x3 cm. It is an excellent replacement for any storage bed and is also suitable for replacing the slat base of a Mondo Convenienza or Ikea bed. Always check the measurements of your old bed base.
How to choose and how to replace the bed base for a storage bed
The bed base described above is excellent and is the best slat base for a storage bed in terms of value for money, but there are alternatives, for example, the 3-beam bed base with 17 slats for a storage bed, or the wide slat bed base. The 3-beam bed base is often chosen by those with significant body weight or by those who wish to give the mattress better support and is highly recommended for pocket spring mattresses.
Bed base with custom holes for replacing the old bed base on a storage bed, how to proceed
The image below shows how to measure the position of the custom holes to receive the bed base already prepared for your storage bed:
Square the curved corner of the old slat base with a rigid ruler;
Measure from the ruler to the center of the hole. It is essential that the measurement is to the center of the hole, and not to the beginning of the hole.
Repeat the operation for each hole.
The last useful measurement for verification is the center-to-center distance, i.e., between the center of the first hole and the center of the second hole.
NB even if your bed base has three or four holes per side, on our bed base, the first and last holes are sufficient, thanks to the robustness of the tubular structure. If you deem it necessary, you can still provide all the hole measurements.
Slat bases assembly and holes
The bed base can be ordered as a normal support bed base, meaning without holes and without legs if you have a bed with a frame to support the bed base, or with custom holes (measuring the holes of your bed base as described in the photo above), or without holes, because you want to drill the holes yourself on site, using your bed base as a template, by overlapping it, for greater precision. In all cases, the bed base arrives with a hidden strap to lift the bed base. The screws for fixing the old bed base can be reused to apply the new one, or can be purchased from a hardware store. If you purchase the lifting kit, the hardware is also included.
How to measure to drill the new bed base
After squaring the corner of the old bed base, if it is rounded like the one in the photo above, measure from the head to the first hole, from the head to the second hole, and so on.
