The King 1600 Superior mattress is 30 cm deep. Thanks to its padded cover it offers greater comfort in the upper zone, with wool on the winter side and cotton on the summer side (cotton only on request), mixed with hypoallergenic, anti-mite hollow ecology fibre.

Soft Touch top pad

The Soft Touch top pad is the part of the King Superior closest to the body. It is not a separate topper: it is attached with a zip. About 3 cm thick, it is designed to increase surface cushioning without making the mattress too yielding or enveloping. On the summer side the padding is a layer of cotton bonded with hypoallergenic Ecology hollow fibre.

Its function is different from that of the Memory VE 50/T already present in the inner core: the Soft Touch pad works mainly on the feeling of contact, thanks to natural wool paddings resting on a lower 2 cm layer of Olmo Soff®. In this way the mattress maintains firm, progressive support, but with a softer, more comfortable surface.

The heart of the mattress, with the 1600 independent spring system, is made with a pocket spring system with 2.2 mm diameter wire, the hallmark of a more supportive and longer-lasting spring.

Suitable for partners of different weights

The Memory foam layer above the springs and the pad with thick padding layers (a wool layer and a hypoallergenic hollow-fibre layer) provide substantial support and at the same time greater comfort than the 800 pocket spring mattress, with better distribution of body weight, relieving pressure points more effectively.

King Superior 1600 offers firm support thanks to its 1600 pocket springs, but the upper comfort zone in memory foam, wool and cotton makes it more cushioning than the King Air 800. The feel is progressive: firm deep down, comfortable on the surface. It is the right choice for those who want support without giving up comfort.

Is it suitable for side sleepers?

Yes, it is particularly recommended. The 1600 pocket springs distribute weight evenly, while the upper comfort zone in memory foam and natural materials cradles the shoulder and hip without compressing. The spine stays aligned in the side position. Compared with the King Air 800, the King Superior 1600 is better suited to side sleepers thanks to its greater surface cushioning.

Is it suitable for people weighing between 50 and 70 kg?

Yes. In this weight range King Superior 1600 offers adequate support without feeling too firm. The upper comfort zone in wool and cotton ensures a soft, natural feel. A lighter person will mainly feel the cushioning of the upper part, with supportive but not hard support.

Is it suitable for people weighing between 70 and 90 kg?

Yes. In this range the reinforced pocket springs work at full capacity, maintaining support over time with higher weights, without sagging in the central area. In this range the feel will be more enveloping than for a lighter person, as it makes more use of the spring's elastic travel. Is it suitable for people weighing over 110 kg?

King Superior 1600 can support weights over 110 kg over time, but the springs will be under more stress and the feel will be more enveloping than for a person below this weight. Is it suitable for a couple with different weights?

Yes, it is one of the most suitable models for couples with uneven weights. The heavier partner will engage the springs' support deep down, feeling the mattress as firm. The lighter partner will mainly engage the upper comfort zone, feeling the mattress as comfortable and supportive but not firm. The independent pocket springs prevent movement being transferred between the two sides.

What is the difference between 800 and 1600 springs?
Mattress manufacturers use a greater number of springs to achieve better distribution of body weight, which translates into superior comfort, not greater firmness. So conceptually, the mattress with more springs is more cushioning.

Other features of the deep King Superior mattress:

Part of the Mediterranea family, Gabrielli's high-end mattress line, it has a core of 1600 pocket springs with Box-System, which protects and reinforces the edges, preventing premature sagging. The upper part has 5 cm of high-density Memory VE 50/T, with a base layer in Pur-O. Air circulation is guaranteed thanks to open-cell, porous and breathable foam materials.

Although the mattress firmness is 6 out of 10 (the King 800 Sanitized model is 7), the addition of the Soft Touch Pad makes the mattress feel more cushioning, but the support remains firm, typical of a spring mattress.

Mattress firmness scale: medium/medium-firm

The 7 support zones also help keep the body in the right position thanks to an imperceptible reinforcement of the mattress in the areas of our body where there is more weight. This will also help delay the annoying sagging in the central part of the mattress that causes a dip after a few years of use.

Washing the cover

The cover can be removed thanks to the perimeter zip, which lets you remove the pad, the upper part of the cover, or all of the fabric, depending on whether you want to wash just the surface or remove it entirely for washing.
