Italian common bed size

In Italy the double size bed for two people is 160x190 cm, it' is the regular size for "materasso matrimoniale" (matrimonial mattress, literally), many beds manufacturers use this measure as standard and you can find most of the offers in this size. This size is similar to the queen size (which is 153x203 cm), a little bit wider but shorter. If you ask for 160x200 cm, a longer mattress, it's often called out of size even if many Italian needs this, because they are tall.

Ikea Measure or French measure

French measure in Italy is 140x200 cm, it is called French measure because French people love each other so they sleep closer, or maybe because French houses are smaller.

Measure 140x200 cm is also common, after Ikea introduced these cheap beds, and many Italians loved this, to save space in the bedroom.
