The types of slatted bases are divided into:

Orthopedic bases: inflexible slats, wide or narrow but always with more than one reinforcement crosspiece for a rigid support, mainly recommended for spring mattresses;

Ergonomic bases: flexible, arched slats, curved upwards, for an elastic, not rigid support.

How to choose the most suitable base for the mattress? If you are looking for rigidity, or if your mattress needs more push or not to give in, choose slatted bases with two or three crosspieces under the slats, if you want a high-performance bed system, with a combined base and mattress for maximum adaptability, choose flexible slatted bases.
