Slatted bed base cover

Protecting the mattress with a bed base cover is a smart move because it shields the mattress from dust and the slats or frame of the bed, keeping hygiene intact.

Protecting the Mattress with a Bed Base Cover

Many people don’t use it and are unaware of its existence, but between the mattress and the slats of the bed base, a protective bed base cover in felt or padded material is essential for hygiene and mattress care. The bed base cover protects the mattress from dust mites, dust, and friction with the slats, and it also acts as a non-slip layer. The slat cover or bed base cover is a protective layer that helps preserve the underside of the mattress. This way, you won’t need a full encasement mattress cover; a fitted sheet-style protector will be enough, since the bottom of the mattress is protected by the bed base cover.

Which Bed Base Cover to Choose

Especially if you have a storage bed, a double bed base cover is a great help in limiting the entry of dust into the drawer. It can be applied using ties (in the felt version) or with an elastic band (in the padded version). If your bed base is for a storage bed, the elastic band version is less practical, because the slatted base usually has a mattress stopper at the head.

Below are the most suitable bed base covers, depending on your needs. The felt version is a bit stiffer and has ties for fastening, while the padded one is softer, easier to wash, and features elastic side bands.
